All hatred for Corch Meyer aside, his return needs to be a medical decision rather than an athlete or coaches decision. Meyers and Tebow are risking serious personal injury, permanent brain damage, and yes, even death if he returns too soon.
This is probably one of the worst possible sports injuries that can occur for numerous reasons. First, it’s hard to diagnose exactly how severe a concussion actually is. Many athletes can show no outward symptoms of the injury, or they may be delayed for some time. With many other injuries (like a separated shoulder) it is much easier to repeat the injury after you have sustained one.
It shouldn’t, but it comes down to a simple risk-reward comparison. For a normal QB, I would say that 2 weeks may be enough time off. But considering a) the hit Tebow took from Eric Berry b) the severity of this injury (which almost included spinal damage) and c) his propensity to go towards contact, this kid needs to stay off the field if he wants to keep playing football.
